This collection contains files on boards, councils, committees, and foundations; meeting activities; scholarships; and other funding overseen by the Vice Chancellor's office, as well as files on alumni who made contributions to various funds, and administrative files kept by a number of past Vice Chancellors. The files in the first several cartons are not separated by topic, but are inter-filed, according to alphabetical order. Materials range in date primarily from 1950s to 1990s. The Vice Chancellor for University Advancement holds a position as an Executive Officer serving the Chancellor of the university. The Office of University Advancement "supports the operation of Alumni Relations, University Development, Public Affairs, and other units involved with the external mission of NC State by managing the donor/alumni database, conducting donor research, processing and receipting private gifts (corporate and individual gifts), maintaining financial records (budgets, payroll, personnel, purchasing, insurance, leases, reimbursement, etc), administering the corporate matching program, managing the donor prospect tracking system, planning and managing stewardship, assisting with proposal preparation, and staffing the needs of the NC State Foundation, the Endowment Fund Board, and the Alumni Association Business Operation." The Office of University Advancement was previously known as the Office of Development.
